Promises of Peace.

Aesop's Fables

Translated by George Fyler Townsend

The Wolves and the Sheep

"WHY SHOULD there always be this fear and slaughter between us?" said the Wolves to the Sheep. "Those evil-disposed Dogs have much to answer for. They always bark whenever we approach you and attack us before we have done any harm. If you would only dismiss them from your heels, there might soon be treaties of peace and reconciliation between us." The Sheep, poor silly creatures, were easily beguiled and dismissed the Dogs, whereupon the Wolves destroyed the unguarded flock at their own pleasure.

We in the conservative blogosphere, discuss the ridiculous measures that Israeli politicians, self appointed masters from the UN, and our own American seemingly mindless politicians try to use to establish peace in the Middle East.  All these measures boil down to getting rid of the watchdogs, so that there will be peaceful co-existence between wolves and sheep. This recent Israeli-Palestinian cease fire agreement can be simply characterized as: insanity prevails once more among the silly sheep.

For reasons that seem bizarre to us, the liberal talking heads promote the removal of defensive measures. We look at them and think, these people can't possibly be this stupid.

When liberal politicians win elections, we are left bewildered thinking how could so many people buy into this insanity. The truth is that not all liberal socialists are silly sheep. Wolves hide among them. We think it is enough to focus on the silliness of the sheep; we believe that our real fight is with the sheep.

Disguised by wearing the hides of progressive sheep, these wolves stealthily create the rules that favor only themselves. Whether it is an attack on our first and second amendments, or an immeasurable number of other edicts that weaken the individual citizen, the goal is always the same. This goal remains to remove the guard dogs and so that the wolves can slaughter the sheep at will.

The worst part is watching people fall for the elegant prose that hides the ugly reality beneath.

The papers print Obama's words, the talking heads repeat them, almost as a mantra, and ignore the actions that are in direct contradiction to the words.

The people take comfort in the words, and repeat them back at you, and you look at them in astonishment. How is it that they do not see?

Yup. We keep talking to sheep and wonder how can they be this dumb. Our real problem lies with the wolves that hide among these sheep. My solution is to form our own wolfpack.
