There is. I think there is evidence that the ship is trying to right itself. The Blue Dogs are asserting their rights as legislators instead of acting as rubber stamps. Feinstein is stepping out of the partisan lockstep and calling it like it is. (I know, don't expect too much, but...)
Our system was designed to handle things, work out problems through debate and compromise.
When Obama came in and Pelosi threw that tradition to the winds, it looked like the ship might sink, but there is HOPE now.
When the comedians start treating Obama like any other President, and the House and Senate reassert themselves as statesmen, Obama will be limited and the Ship of State will survive.
